Toray U.S. / MX Safety Summit
On September 28th and 29th, 2020, CMA Spartanburg Plant hosted the 2020 Toray U.S. / Mexico Safety Summit. This meeting was originally scheduled to be held onsite at the Spartanburg facility but due to travel and social distancing requirements, it was determined to be held via ZOOM conference. The goal of the summit this year was to, Learn from each other’s prevention and sustaining methods to achieve and sustain ZERO. To inspire an interactive and interesting meeting, each of the 16 participating Toray facilities were placed onto one of four teams with a range of five to eight members, each working on a single joint presentation focusing on safety best-management practices. Among these teams, four CMA employees participated. The teams held individual meetings for several weeks in advance of the summit to discuss and work on what they determined to be their best practices.
Both days consisted of similar agendas that included team presentations and additional safety related information for all attendees. On day one of the summit material was presented from TAM, Teams 1 and 2 as well as an open discussion on COVID-19. Day two consisted of presentations from Teams 3 and 4 as well as the Tokuan overview from Zoltek-STP. There was good information in the presentations with many questions and answers discussed during the two-day event. Approximately 42 individual computer log-ins were online during the meeting with many log-ins having multiple participants. Being web-based it allowed those who are new to Toray or may not participate in the annual summit the opportunity to understand where the company places top priority on the safety and well-being of its employees.
