Toray Industries Presents “Scaling from 200 to 20,000 eVTOLS per Year” at the 8th Annual Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Symposium
Toray Industries, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of advanced, high-performance materials for aerospace and automotive applications, including urban and advanced air mobility (UAM/AAM), will present “Scaling from 200 to 20,000 eVTOLs per Year” at the Vertical Flight Society’s 8th Annual Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Symposium. The virtual symposium begins today, Tuesday, January 26, and runs through Thursday, January 28. The symposium focuses on the advancement of electric and hybrid electric VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft for urban air mobility. DeWayne Howell, Senior Applications Engineer at Toray Advanced Composites USA, Inc., will make Toray’s presentation on Wednesday, January 27, at 13:45 pm MST. Howell will discuss the proper Toray carbon fiber composite materials and processes for eVTOL applications. He’ll also introduce attendees to other advanced technologies in Toray’s UAM/AAM solutions portfolio. Toray is a Technical Program sponsor of the Vertical Flight Society’s event.
The “Scaling from 200 to 20,000 eVTOLs per Year” presentation will highlight Toray’s carbon fiber composites, which offer exceptional strength, are extremely lightweight, and are used for the manufacture of an eVTOL primary structure and rotor blades. Among other cutting-edge Toray materials and technologies to be introduced during Toray’s presentation are its battery separators, resins, fluorofibers, suede-like artificial leather, and the technologies used for the designing of carbon fiber composite materials at Toray Carbon Magic Co., Ltd.
Toray’s proven solutions of advanced materials used by the automotive industry, and its carbon fiber composites, will be the UAM industry’s materials of choice when eVTOL manufacturing is scaled up. The 8th Annual eVTOL Symposium offers an excellent opportunity for Toray to present an array of the world’s highest-quality products for urban air mobility aircraft and demonstrate its broad capability to support the industry.
