CMA Earns Recognition at JASA 2023
CMA was recognized as one of the expanding Japanese-owned companies in Alabama at the Japan-America Society of Alabama (JASA) 2023 Celebration Dinner in Birmingham, AL, November 9, 2023.
JASA was founded in 1989 as an international professional networking organization to build cultural, educational, and professional ties throughout Alabama. In recent years, JASA has been revitalized and has increased its focus on supporting and promoting business, including US business ventures in Japan and Japanese business in Alabama.
It was reported at the dinner that the state of Alabama may be able to attribute as much as 25% of its total gross domestic product (GDP) to Japanese businesses, particularly in the automotive industry with a huge presence of Honda and Toyota and their supporting companies in Alabama. Toray CMA was one of six Japanese companies recognized for expansion efforts in 2022, including Toyota, Daikin, Topre, et al.
Toray CMA’s expansion to double TORAYCA® T1100 carbon fiber production was announced in 2022, and the construction was completed in 2023. The TORAYCA® T1100 product is the highest tensile strength carbon fiber on the market, and it has had great success in attracting US Aerospace and Defense applications. The production investment will help to meet the rising demand for this high-performance product.
