JEC World 2019
At the JEC World 2019 international composites exposition held in Paris, France over March 12th – 14th, Toray was well represented and engaged in winning new business opportunities for organizational growth. Toray Carbon Fibers Europe (CFE) hosted a Toray booth, and Toray subsidiaries TenCate Advanced Composites (TCAC), Zoltek, Delta-Tech, and CIT also all hosted their own booths for industry engagement. A naming change of TenCate Advanced Composites (TCAC) to Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) was announced at the JEC event to much acclaim.
From Toray Composite Materials America (CMA), Tacoma, Jeffrey Satterwhite of the Technical Engineering department gave a presentation to the JEC audience of about 50 people on Toray Next-Generation Materials on March 13th, hosted by Huntsman Advanced Materials. The presentation covered Toray’s commercial and next-generation products. Commercial systems presented were the general-aviation #2510 system under both AGATE and CMH-17 specifications, the general-aviation #2511 system with developing CMH-17 specifications, and the primary aerospace structural #3900 prepreg system also with soon-to-be-released CMH-17 specifications. Also disclosed to an enthusiastic audience was the next-generation #3960/T1100G prepreg system, outlining its premier performance capabilities relative to established systems, its superior processing flexibility by both out-of-autoclave (OOA) and automated fiber placement (AFP) techniques, and its cure compatibility with the #3900 prepreg system.
Participation in the JEC conference was a successful endeavor for the Toray group again this year, and is sure to generate new interest in Toray CMA prepreg products and further opportunities for growth in the advanced composite materials market.
