Tacoma Plant Tree Planting Ceremony
Tacoma Plant first planted a tree in 1994 in celebration of the start-up of the Toray Composites (America), Inc. (TCA), the predecessor of CMA. There are currently 45 trees planted throughout the facility for various occasions. Trees planted include cherry and plum blossom. Most of them were gifted by former Japanese expatriates dispatched from Toray Industries, Inc. as a token of appreciation.
On April 6, 2021, we had a tree planting ceremony in memory of Mr. Masayoshi Washiyama, former manager of CMA’s Technology and Development Division, who passed away last December. Though not all employees were able to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic, President and CEO Dennis Frett gave a warm speech to the attendees on Mr. Washiyama’s great contribution and his fun and likable personality. The attendees took turns to place a pile of dirt on his tree.
We were grateful to be able to conduct the ceremony and remember him in picture-perfect weather despite Washington State’s reputation for rainy days year-round.
