Toray Group Presents Applications of Advanced Composite Material Innovations at CAMX in Atlanta this Fall
The Toray Group, a global leader in innovative technologies and advancements in high-performance materials, is pleased to announce it is exhibiting at CAMX 2023 from October 30 to November 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Toray will feature applications of TORAYCA™ carbon fiber, thermoset prepregs, and thermoplastic composite materials used in the aerospace and defense, automotive, sports and recreation, and industrial markets.
The annual event invites industry leaders to learn about new and transformative materials in the composites industry. The Toray Group encourages attendees to consult with technology experts at Toray booth AA9 on the ideal solution for their composite material challenges, such as those contributing to weight reduction, decreased fuel consumption, and improved strength, safety, and comfort in various industries.
Booth samples to be displayed include a hydrogen tank which was manufactured with next-gen TORAYCA™ T1100 carbon fiber to produce the lightest possible vessel with the ability to withstand the highest pressure; a main rotor blade made with TORAYCA™ T1100/2510 unidirectional and plain weave prepreg to increase strength and minimize corrosion; an unmanned aerial vehicle wing made with MicroPly™ and carbon-reinforced epoxy prepreg for rapid one-cure structural assembly; and a medical knee brace component made of CFRT® TL-6000, the strongest, stiffest composite sheet material offered in the orthopedic field.
Other featured materials include:
- Toray 2700 toughened prepreg system, specifically formulated for heat resistance and low water absorption. The material exhibits excellent all-around structural properties, press cures in under 5 minutes and is compatible with multiple applications including AFP/ATL, OOA/VBO, autoclave, hand layup and press molding.
- Cetex® TC1225, the first globally recognized Nadcap accredited high-performance thermoplastic for prepregging, and leading material technology utilized in programs such as Clean Sky 2 and Netherlands LH2 Composite Tank consortium.
- CFRT® TL-6000, is a continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic laminate. This product is available in multiple constructions from 2-Layers up to 7-Layers; all ultra-thin, lightweight, and resilient. This material can be drilled, ground, polished, and heat adjusted. TL-6000 has a smooth high-gloss finish and is used widely in the Orthopedic market.
In addition to the exhibit, DeWayne Howell from Toray Advanced Composites will be presenting the education session on high-rate production requirements today, explore fabrication technologies and joining methods, and compare the scopes of two leading public-private funded industry programs, the European-based EU Clean Sky 2 and US-focused NASA HiCAM, on November 1 at 11 am ET. Visit the CAMX website to add the session to your calendar.
