Toray Promotes Advancements in Carbon Fiber, Thermoset and Thermoplastic Composite Materials at SAMPE Conference and Exhibition
The Toray Group, global leader in innovative technologies and advancements in high-performance materials, will showcase its wide range of TORAYCA® carbon fiber and advanced composite materials when the company exhibits at SAMPE 2022 on May 24-25 in Charlotte, North Carolina, booth L9. Toray will feature its product portfolio, the TORAYCA® carbon fiber and various applications of thermoset and thermoplastic composite materials in the aerospace, automotive, industrial, and sports and recreation markets.
Innovative Technologies and Sustainability
Toray’s expansive material portfolio supports its Sustainability Vision of providing innovative technologies and advanced materials to address global environmental, resource, and energy problems. At the forefront are materials that enable developments in aerospace and automotive lightweighting, build a renewable energy economy, and contribute to other sustainable solutions.
Composite Highlights
Toray Composite Materials America, Inc. will feature its portfolio of toughened prepreg systems that provide improved structural performance and are specified with tight physical property manufacturing tolerances. These materials are well-suited for the UAM market and high rate aerospace programs since it performs well in low-volume environments and high-rate production processes.
Toray Advanced Composites will highlight the Cetex® suite of high-performance thermoplastic composite materials that exhibit excellent mechanical properties and processing advantages. Cetex® composite materials enable high-rate production and automation for large-scale primary and secondary aircraft structure parts as utilized in next-generation aerospace programs such as HiCAM and Clean Sky 2.
Toray Performance Materials Corporation will showcase Toray ENVIR-BOND® technology, a material solution from its sustainable product portfolio. ENVIR-BOND® is a continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite sheet material specially made to improve the ease of processing and reduce the amount of harmful solvents used in the manufacturing process for customer factories.
Other featured materials include:
- TORAYCA® T1100, next-generation intermediate modulus (IM) carbon fiber with excellent processability, facilitates high-performance manufacturing methods.
- AmberTool® HX56 composite tooling prepreg enables production of a precision composite tool with superior accuracy and surface finish.
- CFRT® TL-6000, is a continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic laminate. This product is available in multiple constructions from 2-Layers up to 7-Layers; all ultra-thin, lightweight, and resilient. This material can be drilled, ground, polished, and heat adjusted. TL-6000 has a smooth high-gloss finish and is used widely in the Orthopedic market.
Technical Sessions
In addition to exhibiting, Toray will hold two technical presentations on May 25. The first session, Material Science Advances in High-Temperature Materials & Applications, is part of the Extreme Temperature Materials and Applications track and will be presented by Chantel Camardese, Expert Service Engineer at 10:30 EDT. The second session is scheduled for 3 pm EDT as part of the Advances in Thermoplastic track and will focus on Large Integrated Aerostructures via Thermoplastic Composite Technologies with Dan Lesser, Technical manager, as the presenter.
