Women In Leadership Program at CMA Tacoma
On July 11th a panel of managers and directors at the Tacoma, WA plant of CMA came together for a discussion on their stories and experiences of being women in the workplace. The panelists offered perspectives from a wide variety of departments that included Manufacturing, Technical Engineering, Legal & Compliance, and Human Resources. This was the first major event for the newly founded Toray CMA Women in Leadership program. The Women in Leadership program is the result of a small group of women coming together and vocalizing their desires to build community within CMA, support one another’s career development, and engage with local organizations to promote opportunities for girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In the future, the Decatur, AL and Spartanburg, SC plants may also promote Women in Leadership initiatives at their respective sites. The panel discussion focused on lessons learned from the panelist’s lives and careers, how to navigate challenges in the workplace, and what type of future they hoped for in regards to women leadership at CMA.
